Years ago I read somewhere "Pay attention to taxes because what matters is what you keep not what you earn." Wise words. Taxes really are like a mill stone around your neck.
Does the Bull enjoy any outdoor activities or activities in Nature? I'm curious what the Bull does when he wants to disconnect from city life, business, and money.
Would be curious to hear more about what sorts of activities are nearby each city and a little bit off of the beaten path, as well as what the Bull does for fun. We already know you think winter sports are more risk than they're worth (rehabbing an ankle right now, I get it), but I'm curious which ones you consider worth doing.
Best areas in San Diego are La Jolla, Del Mar & Rancho Santa Fe. Carlsbad, Torrey Pines & Encinitas are amazing if you have families

"...and Austin has basically turned into a slowly declining version of SF."
Been in Austin for ten years and could not agree more.
Moved out of there last year. It's now got all the California problems with none of the benefits
Still no state tax so slightly better
Which problems? I hear homeless issue isn’t great, but that’s anywhere these days.

The Dallas recommendation has me contemplating a move... was only there for July a few years ago but I did enjoy it.

The general framework is anything that you can do at age 70 is good. Golf, swimming, hiking etc.
If you can't do it past age 50 or so, it's likely too rough on your body. Such as max weight lifting or even basketball (too hard on knees).
Other than that general framework do what you like
