Senior DeFi Role - Application Due May 10

Read Carefully or Be Disqualified!

Welcome Avatar! One of the main concepts here is that it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female. It doesn’t matter where you live. What matters is if you have talent/value. Also. Talent/value is a gradient. There are people out there making $50K a year that should be making $250K. There are people out there making $250K that should be laid off as they are adding nothing (middle management). So on and so forth. 

Overview: In June (approximation), we will launch an educational sub-stack on DeFi only. We think the current information out there is terrible. Lots of random charts. No way of valuing the protocols… or extremely expensive “research” that is 4-6 years behind. We expect that about half of the people interested in BTB (coin opinions, portfolio management, life advice and stocks/real estate) will be interested in DeFi. 

Why DeFi? We think DeFi is 100% the future of finance. The problem is that no one knows how to use this stuff or how to value them. How many people can identify clear scams? How many people can consistently find the best farms? How many people can minimize fees without jumping into Ponzis? So on and so forth. Readers need a way to stay up to date on the topic as they likely have multiple forms of income (so we hope if you’ve been reading us for years!)

Structure of Decentralized Role: This is a senior position. This means you will receive direct line of sight to your income. If you create a bad product and only get 10 subscribers your income will be practically nothing. If you do an amazing job and get hundreds/thousands of subscribers, you can collect up to 49% of that income. Purely performance based role. You will also receive a guaranteed base salary that is linked to a smart contract (in addition to performance based pay)

Flow of Work: You will be working directly *with* BTB under your own mini-business line. This means that we will review everything for the first 6-12 months until you’re able to run it with minimal oversight. Also. You will have BowTiedDuck as a helper along the way. BowTiedDuck will send you various information on new projects, help point out scams and give you updates on new projects. This will help you focus on creating the best material possible. We will also help you follow the DeFi space. 

Instant Firing: Since this is an educational and more technical product, if you attempt to “pump” random small cap coins you will be fired immediately. Income via smart contract will go to zero. Your email will be shut. Access to sub-stack shut. You will never hear from us again. You will also be blocked from BTB twitter immediately.

Why? While we’re happy to do research on small and mid-cap coins, we attempt to look for real projects that will be successful and do not want overlap (we will never shoot 100% but this would increase error rate). Instead, you will be building out the valuation framework for DeFi. For example: 1) what P/E does the protocol trade at, 2) is the protocol still growing, 3) will Total Value Lock continue to grow, 4) is it a centralized scam ponzi, 5) what coins are being added to the liquidity pools, 6) is the interface user friendly, 7) how clogged is the network - potential fee differences and 8) how much larger do you expect next year earnings to be when compared to this year. (These are simple example items). 

If you do the above correctly, the reader can then make their own decisions on how *they* want to value the protocol. When it comes to DeFi, we think the sector is simply too important. Everyone needs to learn how to fish. Over time, a smart reader will likely find projects/new ideas beyond what we can find! This is the point. The goal of the Substack is to teach people to be proficient and come up with their own ideas.

With that aside, BTB will run as normal. If someone doesn’t have time to learn all of this stuff, they can stick with BTB and watch our trades live (for better or worse!) and adjust the risk framework as they see fit. 

Now for the Application! For the fun part. This will be a two part decentralized interview. Part one is simple you need to make a one page write up. *NOT MORE*. Anything longer than one page will automatically be disqualified. It means you’re not an effective writer. 

Round 1: If you are interested in applying you can start today! Applications will be due May 10, 2021 (do not send your application in early). Again. Do not send us the application early we will collect all of them on May 10, 2021.

Application: You must answer five questions: 1) How would you explain DeFi to a beginner, 2) How would you value a DeFi Protocol, 3) How would you assess the safety of the protocol - potential loss of funds/rugs etc, 4) How much time do you have to dedicate to this role - you are free to keep your current income streams and 5) give us a rough idea of how much you’d want to make for the time you’re dedicating to the project. We need to have a rough idea of compensation so we can calculate the value you’re adding. We don’t need to know what you do or where you live. Just need to know time and rough income expected/wanted.  

All of this must be answered in *one page* size 12 Arial Font. This will make the application entirely fair. If it is over one page you will be disqualified, if you shrink the font… also disqualified. Charts/tables are accepted as long as it does not go over 1 page. 

How to send in application? On May 10, 2021. You message @BowTiedBull on Twitter via a normal twitter interaction. We will send a quick DM saying “submit” and you simply attach the screen cap of the write up or the one page PDF. We’ll download it and delete everything. Do not send anything in early. 

Round 2: If you are selected into round 2 we will *pay you* for the final round. Many of you have worked in the hedge fund industry and know how this stuff works. We will send you a Case Study on a single DeFi project. You explain/pitch the project in a simple 10 page slide deck.

Unlike the hedge fund industry, since it is a pain to make a 10 page slide deck, we’ll be giving you some money for simply making it to the final round (you will be paid if you submit a presentation). After that we’ll choose the winner and negotiate details. 

Emphasis: We do not need to know your name, your location or if you are working on other things. The only thing that matters is the quality of the work. Merit.

Some Fun Stuff: If you win (and accept!) you will have to choose a cartoon animal to represent “you” on twitter. You will have to create a blank/clean twitter account with the phrase BANKS ARE ZEROS in the back (exact copy of ours). Your name will be “BowTied(Animal)”. 

You can choose your “title”. You can call yourself Chief Autist Officer, Chief Yield Master, Sonic Autist, DeFi Degen (anything you like!). The only caveat is you have to stick with it so it is consistent.

You will also participate in tons of other items within BTB (if you wish). Help us plan other events like Clownhattan, build out some fun memes and videos etc. However. The main role is the same.
