Very realistic description BTB. The people can be great if you have the right attitude.

Couple quollified spots I love in safe(ish) areas:

1-900 icecream scoop shop in rittenhouse

Parc- great French cuisine

Loco Pez in grad hospital ($1 taco night IYKYK)

Bok bar - abandoned school turned rooftop bar for sunset, outside of the zone of “safety” but worth an Uber

Parc is good forgot that one, don't know the other ones

Parc is definitely one of my favorite spots. Decor and men’s restroom make it

Accurate post.

Ironically, you'll find the best versions of the staple Philly food (cheesesteaks) in suburb locations.

Avoid North Philly like the plague.

Fishtown has some cool spots to bar hop.

If you're into sports, few places beat the energy of Phillies or Eagles games. (76ers and Flyers would also apply if the teams were good. Fans still show up, but energy lacks. Is what it is.)

Any chance you can do a Nashville one, looking at moving there from az and starting a biz there

Last thing I’m going to add, everyone will tell you to to Pats & Genos for a cheesesteak they’re trash. Do the opposite and go to Cleavers.

There’s other gems but they’re not in the spots where you want to be.

Can you do a guide for Eastern Europe? (Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, etc. ?

Expand full comment
BowTied Bull's avatar

Not really a point it's basically all the same, good looking gold digging women that's about it

Poland being the easiest most loose

Ukraine/Russia being most attractive

But what's the spot to visit? Where to go etc...

BowTied Bull's avatar

Just go to the nicest hotel you can afford and go to anything luxury its quite literally all the same. Will think about how to write something that doesn't sound exactly the same across the board.

Its just gold diggers and if you have money you're set. The entire culture is the hot girls trying to trick rich men into marriage that's literally the entire thing

Beyond that there isn't much interesting tourism wise being honest

The only differentiator is Poland is by far the easiest if rich. Ukraine has most attractive but much less hookup-ish culture.

Ah ok, then I think a short free post like this should suffice. Warsaw would make a great short city post

Just type luxury night life. Ritual, Panorama Sky.. That's it.

Then hop around till the right setting for your personality based on $$$$ or $$$ ratings online

Anyone going for reasons beyond just hooking up will not enjoy the cities

Three sentence post done

I’d recommend Krakow over Warsaw. Wasn’t destroyed in WWII so still has old beautiful buildings if you’re into history. Hotel Saski was a nice spot to stay

Why cover this town? It’s barely a city. It’s filthy. I was assaulted by homeless people outside a top restaurant in Philly.

My wife and I visited Philly last summer and fell in love. We are looking to make a move away from LA for all the obvious reasons. Do you think we're going to just find more of the same as in LA or is it a good place to put down roots?

The suburbs of Philly are beautiful and the schools are great. I haven’t raised kids there but I spent a chapter of my life on the “main line”, and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. You get all four seasons with less intensity than say, Boston. It’s not a top tier city, but it’s a stones throw from one. It also has lots of architecture that reminds you of “Old America” and I took that for granted when I moved away. The people are also pretty sharp and had good values whereas everyone I meet from LA is ignorant, redacted, or both. Good luck, Mitch.

Suburbs are really nice for settling down. Bucks county, mainline, and along the blue route are where you want to look. Keep in mind that Philadelphia county has the highest county income tax which you pay on top of state income tax. Still cheaper than LA though.

Personally, I find winter miserable from Jan-mid Apr. Be hard for me to give up SoCal sun for that

Fishtown is good for rugged art town vibe. Good bars, la Colombe for coffee/bakery. Depends on if you want luxury vs more raw
