Welcome Avatar! Some of this is related to making money. Some of it is just general observations and social insights. We’ve been writing for quite sometime and it is by far the most enjoyable hobby. It’s laughable to ask about “becoming a writer” since it is extremely unprofitable and more importantly, it’s more of a disease. You either have it in you or you don’t.
This will be more of a stream of consciousness type post. No particular order to it.
New People Always Show Up
Yep you. Someone reading this right now is brand new. No clue who you are but hello, anon!
Since people always show up you need to constantly remind them of major themes. Some of the long-term followers get annoyed here and there but once they read this they will understand it. Quite literally every day someone new is reading what you’re writing. Unless you are the President of the USA, new people are learning about your website daily.
Repetition is actually fine. It also grounds people into your core beliefs:
Get high paying W-2, carve out Wi-Fi biz, quit W-2 when wifi biz does more than 2x W-2 net income and ship all excess money into tech, crypto and other assets like stocks
We expect more degeneracy, everyone to spend more time on screens than in the real world and for rich and poor divide to widen due to AI
W-2 is no longer a way to get rich, it is just a rock hammer they give you to claw out of Shawshank (Movie reference: Shawshank redemption)
There is more than this but these are the major ones we drill into consistently. Your big fans/supporters won’t mind. They will be smart enough to recognize you have to stay on point with a particular message. Any good presenter knows that repetition is important. It makes them remember the most important items.
Tons Won’t Listen
Realistically around 1% of people who claim they respect your opinion will actually take action. Being generous 5% and that’s maximum.
In addition to this, they are typically late. If you hand over a great biz idea, they will not do anything for a year or two. Then the option passes and they come back asking “what’s the next one”. When you get the next one, they won’t do anything again.
This is the main reason to keep a free vs paid set up. Has nothing to do with the meaningless 27 cents a day (you could literally find this on the ground on a daily basis), it deters time wasters. Small hurdle to avoid time wasters is worth it when you’re at a certain scale. (again, you won’t get rich as a writer unless you make the next Harry Potter)
The rare people who do listen and succeed will support you forever. If someone bought BTC at $3,500 back in 2020 we really doubt they are ever going to care about $100 a year. Anyone who read Triangle Investing is never going to leave either.
Focus on the people who are winning and just ignore the people complaining and constantly asking for the next thing. What they are really saying is they don’t have any interest in your opinion and expect you to do it for them. They won’t be rich.
Your Biggest Fans Are Dead Silent
Despite the jungle having a lot of voices, we can assure you the biggest fans are always dead silent. It makes no sense but it is how it goes.
Your biggest haters will be the loudest with the 70 followers on X posting every single day. The irony is they are making your brand bigger and simultaneously announcing they are worse than you. Have you ever met a hater doing better than you? Nope.
Instead of bothering with them, just put them on mute and collect those extra views. Once someone is negative on you, it isn’t worth it to engage. They will not change their ming 99.99% of the time and there are another 7B+ people out there to talk to instead (who are neutral)

Internet Ads Are Meritocracy Based
For those in the know, we’ve constantly harped on becoming good at ads. Be it for your own biz or as an affiliate. This because it is a no excuse industry. None.
Do you know who made the latest ad for Nike? Didn’t think so. You see ads all the time with zero information on the creator.
Therefore, if you’re good at them you have verifiable proof with *ZERO* DEI, racism, sexism, ageism, insert-ism into the sentence.
The formula is simple: 1) paid $X for ad, 2) converted to sales of $$$$, 3) those sales come at profit of $$$ and 4) is $$$ green? If so you’ve created a biz with no excuses.
You’re spending $100 to get more than $100 back which means it is viable. Majority of e-com? A good rule of thumb is 25-30% operating profit margins (we know someone is going to ask this again during the end of month Q&A so there it is!)
This is one of the major reasons why we’re still max long digital immersion. There is no hiding talent on the internet. If you’re skilled you will make money. If you are unskilled hoping to rely on legacy, it just doesn’t work. The internet allows you to earn money with no information on looks, age or gender. Competitive neutral. Capitalism at its finest.
Your Writing Evolves As You Level Up
This is pretty obvious. That said we’ve reviewed our old stuff and figured out ways to see the progress. Was pretty eye opening.
The major one we’re doing? We’re not even thinking about topics anymore. We know it’ll come up in the flow of the week. Been doing it for so long. Similar to a pro sports player who sees the game “slow down” so will your writing.
You will see everything slow down and won’t suffer from writers block. Over the course of the year some weeks will be slow (just like life) and others will be busy. All of your core readers will not care if you’re writing slightly less during the slow week (post length). *IF* you produce more during the heavy weeks.
This is a fair way to do it since it isn’t depression or mania every month.
Summer is slow in general. People go on vacation. Similar to December for holidays. People are not delusional.
If you’re inconsistent or lazy? People will notice though. You’ll find extreme consistency here compared to everyone else. It isn’t even close. Some are so sporadic you have no idea when they will even post.
Writers Are Strange
Includes us of course. They are strange people. The common threads we’ve noticed are as follows: 1) they are constantly thinking all day - in their heads, 2) generally have odd work hours, wake up late/early and are generally a mess when it comes to schedules and 3) the good ones in 2025 are multi-faceted in terms of interest.
If you think about it deeply this makes a lot of sense. To be a good writer you have to find connections between everything. This means you need to analyze everything you are seeing on a daily basis.
The only interesting observations are cross over observations.
For example we have the business cycle and we have the periodization cycle for sports. Once you see this you figure out that practically everything works in cycles and go from there. You can use this to plan out your finances
One of the cleanest examples is that you’re severely overestimating how good you’ll be in a year (business). You’re also severely underestimating how good you’ll be in 5 years (business likely does well).
All of these financial progress steps are the same. You have a few years of building blocks, then you have your big win, they you have an exit or add a new product line etc. It’s quite literally all the same.
Sports is the same. You strength train, then go to max load, then decrease significantly to peak at the right time (Playoffs, Championships etc.)
Life itself is also a cycle if played correctly: 1) find what you’re good at, 2) find how to monetize that, 3) party/have fun, 4) decide what you want your legacy to be - kids or no kids, 5) go back more into nature/child stuff of doing things you liked and 6) slowing down and maximizing the value of the present - kids are happy since they typically live in the now.
Most assume it’s all upside forever but it’s all a cycle. Get used to it and remember you are *underestimating* how much you can do in 5 years. Not one year.
You Will Meet More Winners on the Internet
This is just a numbers game. The chances of meeting someone legit in a city is less likely than the internet. The internet has everyone on it all day everyday. Similarly, you will learn more from the internet vs. classical education. All the edge/new research items are tested by people in the real world. By the time it becomes “science” it is dated.
The internet is also real life. If you want it to be. Just 35 years ago, you couldn’t do anything. The social circle you got is what you were stuck with. Now? Totally different. If everyone around you is a certified loser, you just go on the internet and connect with like minded winners. No hurdle. No $50,000 a year social club. Nothing.
One of the fascinating things about “moving up in society” is that the internet still wins. If you want to solve something and you can choose the internet vs. the country club, the internet still wins. The problem with luxury areas is that a chunk of the people are actually *not* successful! Their parents may have been the winners and they are simply mediocre just living off the success of the family.
In short, if you want to be on the edge of information/new things. You actually need to spend more time using the internet and connecting with people. Hence, max bullish on digital immersion
The Opposite Screen is the Most Entertaining
In general, most people are exaggerators. “I coulda gone pro if i trained hard enough” - anyone with even moderate self awareness knows that is false. If you sit court-side/ring-side it’ll be apparent to you in seconds. The level of athleticism is insane. In the rare case one guy was a NBA prospect and got injured the day before draft night with a triple ACL/MCL/Achilles tear… we’re not talking about you.
That said, the opposite side is also humorous. We’ve seen people claim that “so and so” is a LARP. Knowing with certainty the guy is worth $100,000,000+. Have also seen people believe so and so is an incredible trader. Knowing with certainty the guy has less than $500,000 and on-chain says the exact opposite.
The best way to use the internet is to keep it all in neutral. You’re a nobody, broke and homeless. Easier this way. When people claim you’ve failed just agree. When people say you’re not broke and homeless, just agree. It’s a win win every time.
If You Want To Troll in the Future, where there is a will there is a way.
People You’re Meant to Find Will Find You
This is another weird one. Out of nowhere you will get a message from someone. You will naturally treat it like a standard “whatever” time waster. You will default into this mode due to 100s of messages.
Then out of no where you’ll realize the person is legit and a superstar. You’ll instantly become internet friends.
This has happened so many times it is nauseating. Out of the blue you just “find” the right person or “find the answer” from an obscure source. Seems to happen all the time in a cyclical fashion. Right when you’ve given up entirely, someone just pops up and there it is. Either they can help you sell the product you just solved for. Or. You can help them solve some problem due to strange esoteric knowledge.
In other words, the main value of writing is actually increasing chance occurrences. Could be a CEO reading this sentence right now, you literally never know.
People Expect You to Solve All Their Issues Instantly
There is no magic pill for giving up 3 years. Eating glass and max pain. Absolutely none.
Everyone we know (who made it) went through at least 3 years of eating glass. Long hours, weak social life, temporary decline in health due to lack of gym time etc. While they were smart enough to avoid permanent damage, the sacrifice was real.
For some reason people think you can speed this up for them into some sort of 6 month short cut. Really doesn’t work that way. If you do the research and know how to do everything correctly, it’ll still take 3 years.
Why? It’s like learning how to swing a golf club. While you can meet the best coach, it doesn’t matter unless you put in the reps. If you have the correct info and get the reps in, then after a few years you’re a competent player. Simple as that.
Oh and by the way. Lady Luck does not like people who try to take short cuts or beg for short cuts. They end up getting *unlucky*. Almost think that these people reduce their luck points.
Lady luck only shows up if someone is grinding long hours with a care free attitude. The right vibe is “happy go lucky because you know you’re putting in the right type of work”. You already know the results are going to show up so why worry about it.
Lady luck hates people who need her.
Final Note if You Want to Become a Writer
It isn’t profitable. It isn’t a good business. It isn’t something you can teach or learn on the fly. You’re really born with the personality type of you’re not.
On that note, the good news is that you can write about a wider range of items *if* you actually got the knowledge. We’ve written about stuff outside of tech/crypto/e-com etc with positive reviews (see the comment about working harder if things are slow!). People can tell if you’ve lived it based on what you’re saying.
A great example is our deep obsession with biomechanics and genetics. Most are not even aware of tendon training and collagen cycles. They just train and hope for the best. This is a critical part of getting older if you want to be athletic in your 40s/50s and beyond. All the guys that are still athletic have the same things in common. Great tendons, ligaments and central nervous systems. They are not 25 but they are not moving like they are 40-50. Major difference.
The conclusion? If you’re actually living life and constantly learning stuff you won’t really get writers block. After a long period of time, people will know you only do stuff you’ve tried.
This is why you’ll never see us talking about living in Calgary, Canada. No one in their right mind would do that to themselves. One day in that place and you’re on the next flight out (oil field guys know its true - they are just there for the $).
Summary
Most people don’t take action. They drag their feet. This can be from starting a biz to buying/selling something. They wait around, don’t react and then the opportunity passes. This is the most common type you’ll encounter.
The winners? They are laughing at all the value. Never leave and never say a thing. Your haters are the loudest because they have nothing better to do with their lives. The winners are silent, too busy crushing those ROAs.
On that note, back to the tent.
