$1m by 30, $4m by 40 is a bar set too low. You need to be at least 1.1m now by 30 with inflation, or $6-8m by 40

Yeah the thing is if you follow the plans we have you won't live in a crazy expensive city full of violence and homeless people so we left it as is

To this point - do you recommend against continuing to live in a city as a young guy? There are some benefits, but with remote work it also seems a bit pointless. It is indeed a lot of money to drop on renting a little apartment in a concrete jungle, when that money could be going towards accumulating computer coins and running ads.

Pls future post on what to do with time/life after being set. The 3 to 6 months vacationing/video games or whatever get boring real fast, no motivation to increase NW further, just flying around the globe discovering new places having fun?

BowTied Bull's avatar

It's whatever you like, what a large number of rich people find out is that they are boring people which is something that takes years to solve

Once you're set you just do things you enjoy and care a lot less about "getting ahead"

If you want a real answer it's typically family or charities like redkurrant said

Zac,

Net worth multiple 7 figures. Keep running the numbers up b/c I love competition. But also spend time with my kids and my girl, travel w em, train martial arts daily, lift, help others who want to be helped. When its not just about you anymore, life is more enjoyable. Having enough wealth = freedom

I don’t think anyone can answer that but yourself; it’s highly personal and completely up to the interests of the individual. As long as you’re set financially you can do whatever you want.

With that said I think that every man needs a purpose otherwise they’ll fall into a depressed, boring funk. That purpose could be literally anything that interests you eg raising a family, starting a charity, coaching sports etc

Living in Eastern Europe. Currently making ~200k / year after tax (tax in my country is next to nothing). Cost of living is much less than US ~3.5k/month including planned vacations. Working one full time job and 2 part time jobs in remote IT. Upgraded from making 40k/year 5 years ago and 70k/year 2 years ago. About 250k overall in crypto assets and doing DCA monthly into crypto. Debt free (no mortgages, loans, etc).

I feel that my passive income gains could be much better. BTB, I wanted to ask you what you think should be my next focus?

The S&P 500 is up ~322% which means that you have to increase your earnings by 3.2x after taxes in 10 years ($100K after taxes = you need $322K US tokens after tax to buy the same amount of S&P 500).

Correct me if I am wrong, but you meant *4.2x and *422k, right?

Life experience, hard to spend more than that if your home is paid off

I assume that number is without considering marriage and children, right?

Currently a young NGMI working a 70k USTT/year position (non-WFH). Is it better to first place my focus on obtaining a career (tech or sales, currently learning coding) or prioritize building an E-com business? Or do both at the same time?

Flirtcheap's avatar

Build E-Com. It's relatively low effort to get started, there is no reason you can't spend 6 hours a week for the next 3 months testing the waters.

Dirk's avatar

is this attainable in a remote area, like alaska. or would we be better off an alternative to ecom? I fear the shipping costs would be ridiculous

Flirtcheap's avatar

There are many different types of E-com and quite a lot don't involve shipping at all.

Just go on to a site like flippa, or empire flippers. Look at whats for sale, and think about which ones you could re-create for a different niche or area.

Seriously, just spend a few hours on this subject and you'll have answers to most of the questions you would otherwise ask.
