If your referring to the YouTube Channel as a fail, I think the main drawback was the AI/computer voice.

Think if you spin-off a different BowTied Account on LinkedIn which links back to this Substack as a funnel, you might be able to get LinkedIn solved.

Main message "build side biz, quit job" won't work due to ppl. being employed and their boss seeing their engagements. Will lead to no engagement on posts.

So basically take specific skill you're good at (i.e. macro) and just post that niche content on there. Lots of different formats possible, reach is good as well.

Then LinkedIn might work.

Could also be another BowTied doing the legwork (i.e. SalesGuy) as top of funnel & if someone is truly interested, they will sign-up for substack or whatever - boom link back to BTB for the rest.

Also, might be stupid but:

I think CringedIn has biggest potential for growth for BTB due to high concentration of skilled workers. Even CEOs have to cringe-post regularly due to it's importance in B2B etc.

Linkedin has a strict policy against impersonation & anonymous account. There's a reason BTSG is not on Linkedin. read the TOS. A bowtied account would be insta banned as soon as it gains traction

don't be a midwit.

Fake name, AI profile pic, get Sales Nav subscription.

They'll make you verify with passport after too many unanswered connection requests, photoshop it and send it in. They won't ban you if you pay + look legitimate - indian guys are doing the verification.

Don't spam ppl with messages, just ask for connections. Easy peasy. Setting this up for a side biz atm.

Content wouldn't even have to be cringe. There's two types of content on LinkedIn:

1) Cringe ppl. going for views -> no conversions.

Typically fake stories about a dog being the interviewer and offering a job after feeding the dog a day before on the street, or posting pictures of themselves crying etc. Sure, you'll get views and a few conversions but loss of trust & respect backdoor. Lots of ppl will make fun of you.

2) Authority value content -> high conversions

Typically actionable content with unique perspectives. This is the type of content which won't go "viral" but will lead to huge amount of trust building + conversions of decision makers / high IQ types. Think BTB would excel here.

If you do 2) with humor you'll get an engagement maschine. Basically - if you can replicate TikTok entertainment style with learning on LinkedIn, you've solved the algo.

Downside:

Harder to start as anon. Fake profile etc. will take a few weeks to get going. First would need to have around 500+ connections before doing content.

Upside:

If done right, huge reach + high overlap of relevant demographic.

buddy of mine told me the other day you could find good video editors on upwork from the Philippines. They could easily turn text into videos using stock images

You can republish the original WSPB articles and get a ton of traffic that way as they’d rank for a ton of high intent keywords ? This would create a great funnel for intro to your content

Great post. Any advice on how to grow an audience on Twitter? Ive been looking for substack articles from the Jungle on the topic and even read some sections of Efficiency again to find something. Coming up short in my search - only normie guru nonsense. Looking to read about solid strategies and then put them into practice in my own style.

Target is AI/ML crowd. Still actively looking for product with margins to sell around that. In short-term will build out a service based/consulting business for architecting ML/AI systems for small-medium sized businesses. Not scalable, efficient, and not really something that makes money in sleep (second job but autonomy) so not optimal. But need to start somewhere.

Not sure where all the AI ML people congregate but pretty simple

1) post valuable info on AI/ML forums

2) get list of AI/ML people on Twitter (repeat)

3) have content plan for AI/ML likely short form video

Rinse and repeat . If no one cares about what you have to say it won't grow, if they do it'll start popping up on our feed and should grow fast.

It's the same formula as listed, just need to choose a niche where you're a true expert so you can grow fast.

If you're not an expert in it, will never work

Troll Tuesdays - Why do you think that people didn't want to participate? People likely didn't want to participate because we are trained to spectate. Doom scrolling, facebook, IG, blue bird, etc. Where are the participators? Who is ready to take the bull by the horns (pun intended)?

One former President of the United States said:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. Roughly how long did it take to hit the first 5K followers on Instagram? Did you use paid advertising at all or was the growth all organic?
