Worth every cent paid for this and will be continuing long term subscriber. By next week, $100/year will just be 5 Monster Ultra Zero Sugars and a few Slurpees I’ll have to skip on my drive between sales calls.
Recommend subscribing to both BTB and DeFi Education. Not only are the subs extremely valuable but exposure to broader network that is available is great (Chad Salesman for example)
I agree. I joined both as soon as I found out what they were up to late last year. Tons of great information for us no matter where we're at on the learning curve!
I'll add this... I am nowhere near where I want to be on my journey to being a sovereign individual, but the ideas here are so valuable that I have also shared the stack with a few others.
Recently helped a friend that used to work in O&G swap to tech sales as well, and I've convinced my dad, who is a career veteran in tech, to start a blog summarizing his knowledge, with the intent of doing some affiliate marketing/consulting as well.
WAGMI, not because we are expecting a handout, but because we have all started betting on ourselves. Without BTB/WSP this would not have been possible.
I worked in refining optimization and swapped to equipment reliability software sales, so you don't even need direct experience with THAT software, but understanding the basic concepts gives you a leg up on Joe Blow that doesn't know a nut from a bolt.
If tech sales doesn't work out, you could always consider equipment/service sales. Think valve manufacturers, or your EPCs that do capital projects for the majors.
Say you work for XOM, you could be the XOM account manager for any one of those companies because you "know" the company culture and can speak the language.
Sounds like there's a lot of options out there - tech sales sounds more attractive but a lot of the equipment sales opportunities could be solid as well. I've got some pretty specific experience so will look to capitalize on that, as the potential talent pool I'll be competing against is relatively small

This post is missing an "update from degen island"!!!
How are our little wolves of cambridge doing?!
Both DeFi Education & BTB are worth every cent.
Without BTB would not have swapped careers from O&G to tech sales, nor would have not started a (fledgling) e-commerce biz.

How difficult did you find it to break into tech sales from your O&G career?
Truthfully, not that difficult, mainly because I used to work in a tech-oriented role in O&G previously.
High level approach is the following:
Identify software you use frequently on the job, ideally one that you can comfortably explain up and down.
Look for postings for the company that develops that software, or its direct competitors.
Position yourself as the ideal "salesman" because:
- you have been the customer and you know what the customer is looking for in this solution
- you come from the industry, and your previous career in O&G gives you credibility when talking to clients
- you can speak about the technical details of the solution to the customer, because you are effectively a power user for this software
Easy.
Think reservoir modeling, production optimization, SCM, refining optimization, equipment reliability software.
Your credentials should be able to get your foot in the door, either as a SE/SC or AM/AE clearing 6 figs on day one, bypassing SDR.
Ha my company's all about Salesforce these days, even where it doesn't make sense. Power BI too. Appreciate the insight
No worries.

Once again, appreciate the insight
