"Congrats on your first year with the Bain Family!"

Almost spit out my coffee reading this line...my w-2 loves sending emails about the "Company" Family....shut-the-fuck-up

Going to be the buzzkill. Everyone that wants to be Chad should be fentanyl testing their lines. Dorky af, but Steve is doing better than a corpse in a luxury Manhattan apartment.

Expand full comment

That was my thought too. But who tf tests their cocaine? Definitely not Chad.

Expand full comment

Chad probably doesn't even get the fentanyl laced coke. He gets the good stuff.

Steve should check for it, if he decides to go that path.

Even the expensive stuff isn't necessarily fentanyl-free these days unfortunately...

As someone who did MBA after the military (paid for with GI Bill) to get me started, this is hilarious. Vast majority are Steve's. Or worse, some of them are even LinkedIn posters. Just doing my time to W2 my way into some starting capital to do bigger things with. Some guys from this whole crowd cannot fathom dating girls who 1) don't work in finance/consulting or 2) even worse, women who approached them. MBA was eye opening a bit that there are girls who are into guys who came from old money backgrounds, but a bunch of these guys are just dorks. One guy I know is at a BB TMT team and his gf is just blatantly disrespectful to him.

Can't save them all. For what it's worth, a few of my coworkers were asking about crypto and a guy last year who said it was all a scam got laid off lol!

Funny, had a few high-school friends like this, except they just did the drugs but had no money =). How to ensure one is Chad, and not ends up just a broke dropshipper, Broke Chad (Brad?).

Survivorship bias - the Steve path is mediocre and average, but aspiring Chads' earnings can be volatile. I like BTB's barbell approach of Steve by day and Chad by night. Quit at 2x.

I could not convince friends to take the L train to visit me growing up , because they were scared. So much has changed in 23 years 😂

If you lived in Canarsie, perhaps the fear was rational. I still don't like going east of Broadway Junction on the L.

I know what you mean, it's zombie land past that stop. My stop was the myrtle wyckoff stop on the L, b4 the planet fitness, starbucks, and renovations & what have you were built, around 2000-2004. I lived on the bushwick / ridgewood border .

The city is dumping $6 billion into Broadway Junction renovations real soon though, so fear not. I personally like the perception of places being scary, keeps things cheap , but that's just me ;)

Forgot to add that Steve is consuming soy and vegetable oils leading to premature aging and a dad bod, meanwhile Chad is on TRT/HGH looking better than ever!

It’s unfortunate 99%+ of corporate employees are Steve. It doesn’t have to be either or. If you’re 50% Steve and 50% Chad you could still win big time and be way ahead of 90% of people out there. It’s relatively easy to hit a coast point (senior management included) where you put in 20 hrs a week max and then spend the rest of your time doing whatever you want (build an e-com/saas, consult for high hourly rate, take advisory roles for equity/cash, etc.).
